A Brief History of Yullin Church
Yullin Church was planted in a tiny basement in Bangbae, Seoul, on the 12th of December 1993. It consisted of seven people including Pastor Nam-Joon Kim. Although they experienced some difficulties in the beginning, it took only 3 years for the congregation to grow to around 300 members. So Yullin Church had to move to a larger building in Bangbae in December 1998 and then to an even larger one in Pyeongchon in April 2002. This is where Yullin Church meets today. Now the total congregation size is around approximately 2000 members.
What¡¯s in a Name?
The word "Yullin" means "OPEN" and from Revelation 3:7-8, we read, ¡°These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no-one can shut and what he shuts no-one can open. I know your deeds. See I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.¡± These verses declare that Jesus Christ opens heaven for His people. Hence the word, ¡°Yullin¡±, in the name ¡°Yullin Church¡±, implies a desire for a day when a spiritual revival and a reverence for God, leading to a Holy life, will overwhelm the world!
To which denomination does Yullin Church belong?
The General Assembly Presbyterian Church (GAPC), Korea.
